Job Description

Large Financial Services provider seeks to attract a finance professional with Life Assurance experience to support a senior management team. The position reports to the Director of Performance Management and day to day purposes. However, a key feature of the role is the relationship with, and support provided to, the Business Representative for the UK. The incumbent is expected to work closely with the Reporting, Planning & Analysis Manager and their team in order to deliver elements of business as usual support (e.g. inputs to Performance and Planning Dialogues) as well as a wide range of ad hoc analyses. In particular effective working across the team to optimise the use of the Finance Analyst pooled resource is an essential requirement. The role is based at Group Head Office in London and the team provides wide ranging support to the Group Director of Finance and Chief Financial Officer and the Group Executive Committee.

The role is extremely varied in terms of its activities, reflecting the need to rapidly respond to market developments and business unit initiatives. Work is often project based and may involve travel both within the UK and overseas.

Key accountabilities

Understanding the markets in which the UK operates, its strategy, risks, distribution channels and marketing approach.
Understanding the financial dynamics of the UK in depth including statutory structures, product features & capital usage.
Developing a solid understanding of financial reporting methodologies and keeping abreast of accounting and reporting developments.

Required

Chartered Accountant or CIMA / ACCA qualified with relevant post qualification experience.
Strong academic record, including a good degree.
Commercial awareness and a high degree of credibility with senior management.
Ability to utilise influencing skills and the ability to work effectively across formal organisational design boundaries.
Familiarity with life assurance accounting and reporting is essential.
Sound understanding of strategic drivers affecting the financial services industry.
