We seek an exceptional individual to join our 11-strong team to lead our media work, enabling Free to Dance to reach a wide audience and realise its significant potential as a high-profile fundraising initiative. The position is 16 flexible hours per week on a voluntary basis. It would ideally suit someone able to commit a number of hours per day, though by arrangement could fit into set days of the week. The position would be ideal for an existing press officer looking to expand into the third/charitable sector, or a candidate looking for an energetic, engaging campaign to build their experience and profile.<br />

Free to Dance team volunteers work flexibly across the capital – either at our LearnBurma address, at home or at a number of public access venues, and all meet together as a team once per week Thursdays, 6.30-8.00pm. Volunteers are provided with a pay-monthly sim card and netbook to perform their duties, as appropriate / required.<br />

Key Responsibilities<br />
<br />
Secure national, regional and local media coverage for Free to Dance, by:<br />
• Working with Ben and other Free to Dance team members to create an effective, time-phased press strategy<br />
• Working with Ben and the team to devise appropriate angles/messaging for Free to Dance<br />
• Connecting with and build relationships with media across the various platforms described below<br />
• Press releasing prospectively and retrospectively all events in the 2011 Free to Dance calendar – with particular focus on the Funkathon, Glastonbury, Notting Hill Carnival, Freemobs and World Record event.<br />
• Consistently monitoring all relevant forms of media to find opportunities for Free to Dance coverage<br />
• Using social media twitter, facebook, blogs, website to promote the media coverage Free to Dance receives<br />
• Helping to recruit required volunteers to support and advance your work<br />
• Attending weekly team meetings and a short weekly one-to-one meeting with Ben in person or virtually
