The Company and Role Overview
A well-known, major financial services provider is looking for a SAS / SQL - based junior data analyst their analytics team based at their East Midlands-based office. With millions of customers, the analytics team look at everything from customer behaviour towards particular financial products, customer contact strategies and new propositions, product pricing strategies and specific branch requirements, based on product & customer trends.
The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work alongside a team of analysts, as well as using the data analysis generated to make recommendations and provide insight to other teams that will use this information to implement changes to drive the business forward, and improve business performace and customer propositions. You will use a range of analytical tools including SAS / SQL / Excel to extract and pull relevant data, and manipulate the data using analytical techniques such as regression, segmentation, cluster analysis etc, depending on the brief given. You will then use your analysis to understand what the data shows, highlighting any relevant trends, dips or anomalies, and present your findings back to different teams and stakeholders, who will use your analysis to drive business strategies.

The Person
The ideal candidate must have the following experience:
* A mathematically relevant degree (2.1 or above) or equivalent, in a subject such as mathematics, statistics, economics, physics etc
* An outstandinding academic history, excelling in subjects such as Mathematics, Physics and other numerate subjects
* Experience using SAS / SQL / Excel VB in a commercial environment; Retail Banking / Financial services is ideal, however candidates with some commercial experience in an analytical role in sectors such as retail, telecoms etc will also be considered. Graduates with a placement year in a relevant role are also encouraged to apply.
* Strong communication skills are essential for this role as you will be required to liaise with different business areas and present you analysis clearly and effectively
* This is a great opportunity for a SAS/SQL/Excel based analyst to gain experience in an expanding data analytics team within a retail banking environment.
