Position: Nuclear Island Quality Control Manager
Location: Greater London
Position Type: Permanent
Sectors/Categories:
Salary: £30000 - £40000 pa
EDF Energy is the UK's leading generator and supplier of low carbon energy. We produce about one-fifth of the nation's electricity from our nuclear, coal and gas power stations, wind farms, and combined heat and power plants. It's something we're entirely committed to. And with the right investment framework in place, we'd like to build four new nuclear reactors in the UK increasing our production of safe, affordable and reliable low-carbon electricity. You'll play a big part in helping us realise our ambitions.
About the role
A key member of our Manufacturing Inspection Department, we'll look to you to embed the Nuclear New Build management system requirements for quality into all aspects of our Nuclear Island project. That means coordinating the activities of the inspection team, the quality control engineers and other areas of the supply chain driving home the expected standards and making sure rigorous measures are taken to meet project requirements at every stage. With a view to maintaining the efficiency of our operations, you'll work with a range of internal and external stakeholders as you perform a number of inspections on subcontractors, support supplier audits, supervise quality plans and review the output before, during and after implementation. To succeed is to support a project of considerable scale and to grow alongside a company that's really going places.
About you
Joining us as a recognised Chartered Engineer or the equivalent, you'll have substantial experience of quality control that has, ideally, been gained within the nuclear industry. Along with a corporate membership of the IQA, chances are you've managed similar projects of this calibre before. So you'll certainly have a thorough understanding of regulatory requirements and technical aspects of nuclear work, as well as knowledge of IAEA, GS-R-3, ISO14001 and OHSAS 18001. But just as important as your technical knowledge are the personal attributes you bring to the role. Building relationships with regulators and working with contractors and colleagues alike, calls for excellent communication skills, plus the ability to work well in a team focused environment. Bring us all this, and you could soon be making a real impact on the UK's energy future.
About EDF Energy
A wholly-owned subsidiary of the EDF Group, itself one of Europe's largest energy groups, EDF Energy is one of the UK's largest energy companies and its largest producer of low-carbon electricity. What really sets us apart, however, is our fresh approach to the industry. Everything we do is underpinned by a clear customer focus and a drive towards a sustainable future. Because it's these two factors, we believe, that will define the UK energy industry for generations to come.
