A Software Developer's role is to program applications or software components that are used internally or sold to our clients.
Depending upon the work area and the product, the tasks may focus on customisation, maintenance/support or roadmap tasks. The Software Developer will normally work under the supervision of a Senior Developer or Team Leader.
[b][yellow]Main Responsibilities and Duties:[/b][/yellow]
1.Analysis, programming and unit testing of allocated Software Development tasks.
2.To work to agreed budgets and timescales.
3.To follow detailed technical specifications and produce appropriate coding design and unit test plans.
4.To work to Torex processes and guidelines.
5.To investigate and resolve software related problems.
6.To develop an in-depth technical knowledge of specific areas of the business sector and/or solution(s).
7.To communicate clearly, accurately and regularly.
8.To ensure that appropriate technical skills are kept up to date.
9.To document changes appropriately
10.To highlight any problems to more senior management.
11.Any other appropriate duties as reasonably requested by your line manager.

[i][yellow]Technical Skills:[/i][/yellow]
1.Good working knowledge of one or more appropriate development languages and database technologies.
2.Good working knowledge of development life-cycle models employed for the particular project being worked on.
3.Good knowledge of the product set being worked on.
4.Competent general IT skills for documentation, email, etc.
5.Essential skills: SQL and VB6
6.Desirable skills: VB.Net, Visual Foxpro, C/C

1.The ability to deliver high quality software to agreed timescales.
2.The ability to work under pressure and take instruction without the need for detailed supervision.
3.Good oral and written communication skills.
4.The ability to carry out risk assessment on a given piece of work.
5.The ability to work unaided, and (depending on experience) mentor other team members as required.

1.An appropriate degree or equivalent professional qualification.
2.Experience of the particular vertical target market sector is beneficial.

As a Software Developer the role will typically be based in a Torex office or approved place of work; nevertheless, software delivery dates can become challenging and so the individual must be aware that on certain projects they may have to work unsocial hours to meet delivery commitments.
The Software Developer may also be asked to attend meetings with at locations which may necessitate overnight or international travel.
