Senior Commercial Underwriter
Salary: £50,000 - £70,000
Location: Birmingham
A growing MGA in the Birmingham area is looking for a Senior Commercial Underwriter to oversee a small team of Commercial Underwriters. The ideal candidate will undertake a hand on role where they look to drive the business forward having a key input on Strategy, Technical Issues and Staff Development.
Responsibilities
To underwrite Commercial Combined, Package and specialist insurance policies in line with overall business plans
Then deliver and negotiate favourable terms with brokers as appropriate
To deliver superior service to brokers and customers including MTA's
To produce and issue policy documentation on bound business
To request and review survey information where required
To contribute to and then exceed the planned financial and non-financial KPI's for the underwriting area of the business
To act as a referral point for less experienced underwriters and help develop a "trading" mentality within the team to encourage more interaction with brokers
To act as a positive role model to less experienced staff
Skills
Demonstrable underwriting experience for a large insurer
Proven experience underwriting
Have the ability to mentor and act as a technical referral point for less experienced members of staff
Ideally possess ACII or be prepared to work towards
